Obviously there are many reasons for Google’s success. I want to highlight one critical factor underlying it which relates directly to your business – Google’s philosophy towards their people.
I have yet to see a business that isn’t dependent on people – even a sole proprietorship has one person driving the business. This idea of creating a [tag]workplace culture[/tag] and a [tag]winning organization[/tag] is critical to the rest of your success.
I noticed a post by the Corporate Genie pointing out something Google is doing in support of their culture which most people would likely think crazy in today’s business environment. I recommend you read it.
Bottom-line: Google was hiring a concierge service for their employees! Seems a bit expensive for today’s economy doesn’t it? Not if you know you will get more back from your people in [tag]productivity[/tag] than what you are investing for the service. That’s HC ROI; that’s real [tag]performance management[/tag]; that’s smart business.

Thanks for mentioning my article. It's serious, I'm starting to think that companies don't value the fact that happy employees translate to happy customers or end users.
