What a sight to see!
It was about 35 degrees outside as I was driving to an appointment past a [tag]golf[/tag] course here in the Bluegrass country of Kentucky. Normally, it’s a view of pastures, well-kept fences, and beautiful horses. Today it was a view of manicured tees, well-kept fairways, and white on the green.
As I looked at the two gentlemen wrapped up in coats, hats, and gloves putting (yes, it was white golf balls, not white snow) I had a couple different thoughts. Admittedly, the first thought was something about less then a full decks of cards.
Then, I got past that and thought a little deeper. Why do people spend time doing something they enjoy in difficult circumstances? Why do people go the extra mile — whether in sports or at work? What causes the golfer, or other sportsman, or the mechanic, the office worker, the factory worker to do just a bit more. Of course, you know the answer — [tag]passion[/tag]! But more importantly, what do you get when they are passionate about their work?
Generally, the more passionate a person is about work, the more they will focus on it, the better they will do it, and the better the [tag]results[/tag] will be. It shows up when you get the additional 30%-50%+ greater results from a person who is [tag]engaged[/tag] and energized?
Too often, too many people end up “just working” without accessing their passion. Is your workforce like the majority of companies with 80% of the people at best “just working?”
Are you as an individual “just working?” Our new economy is creating a lot of challenges and [tag]chaos[/tag] — and [tag]opportunities[/tag]!
What’s your passion?
